Start your own Air Taxi Business (Small Partnership Owner Operation)

Taxijet hopes to make pilots aware of a unique opportunity to hire themselves by starting their own one or two plane part 135 air taxi operation.  Our company plans to facilitate aspects of their operation like certification, financing, finding partners, training and booking passengers but they will be in business for themselves.  The fruits of their labors will be their own.   We hope these pilots will have some loyalty to us and use our services when they begin their operations.  We are designing functionality, state of the art technology and common sense into our system so their loyalty will not be misplaced.

Our plan requires a step of faith in yourself, next generation aircraft, the economy and the joy of flying.

Here is what we propose you do for yourself, the traveling public and the aviation industry:

    1.  Read through the Taxijet.org web site to understand the concept.

    2.  Don't quit your day job.  Keep flying as an air taxi pilot, charter pilot, airline pilot, flight instructor, fighter pilot, freight dog or whatever you can to keep the paychecks coming in and your skills sharp.

    3.  Find partners in your geographical area who wish to pursue the same dream.  Get to know them, and form a partnership.  Collect an appropriate deposit from your partners to help pay the cost of your new aircraft.

You may be able to contact old pilot buddies with whom you have lost contact by trying out this Pilot Search Service.

    4.  Determine the best airport for your operation using guidelines such as:

Where is there a need for next generation air travel service?
Where do I want to live?   I recommend reading "Life 2.0" by Rich Karlgaard and "Free Flight" by James Fallows
Where are the best schools for my kids?
Where is the best flying weather?
Where do I want to fly, the Bahamas or the Great North West?
Where do economics suggest I live? (cost of housing, hangar fees etc.)
What aircraft will be best suited to our new business?

    5.  Start the process of gaining  part 135 Certification.

    6.  Find financing for your operation.   In light of the current economic crisis this may prove difficult.  As the economy begins to improve this step will become easier.  Dayjet recently closed its doors because they were unable to obtain financing.

    7. Purchase an aircraft for your operation.  Your individual plan will dictate the best aircraft for your operation.   There are numerous to help you find available aircraft.  There is a company that is building an aircraft specifically to sell to franchise type air taxi operations.  This company and aircraft may be a good way for Small Partnership Owner operators to get involved in the Air Taxi business as a business owner.  It may be worth checking out www.Earthjet.com

    8.  Once you get your aircraft -start flying!  Taxijet is building services and relationships to bring customers to you at greatly reduced cost.

The normal progression of pilot careers has in the past ended with a job flying heavy machinery and making enough money to afford a personal prop plane.  Now the progression will be from a job as an aircraft Fractional Owner/Copilot to Fractional Owner/Captain to Full Owner/Captain.  From there you may aspire to owning more than one aircraft.   With the Taxijet concept of empowering pilots to own and operate their own aircraft, pilots' love of flying is finally turned into a competitive advantage.

This opportunity is not for those who have an aversion to risk or hard work but it does promise great reward to those who embrace both.

Fly Safe!
