Pilot Certificates

Many pilots who got their licenses years ago have certificate numbers that are the same as their social security number.  With the increased risk of identity theft that we face today the government has changed their policy and now issues airmen certificate numbers which are different from the individual's ssn.   In an effort to help protect the privacy of pilots Taxijet requires that airmen certificate numbers entered into our database be different from the individual's social security number.  We are devoted to protecting all of the privileged information placed in our databases and we believe this added precaution is worth the ten minutes that it takes to request a new certificate number.  Please pass along the following information to your pilots so they can begin this simple process of obtaining a new certificate number:

1.  Go to the FAA web site at www.FAA.gov

2.  Click on the "Licenses and Certificates" tab

3.  Click on "Airmen Certifications"

4. Click "Change your Airmen Certificate Number"

Or you can click on this link: http://www.faa.gov/licenses_certificates/airmen_certification/change_certificate_number/

5.  Follow the on screen instructions

The new pilot license should arrive in the mail in about two weeks.

What does Taxijet do with pilot certificate numbers?

Our focus is on enabling the air taxi business model to succeed so we have designed our software with last minute requests and bids in mind.  We also always have safety in mind.  We want to empower clients to make accurately informed decisions about the quality of the bids on a moments notice.  Probably the most important aspect of the safety of a flight is the pilots.   Our software will provide a way for the client to quickly and easily search for the qualifications, proficiency ratings and currency of pilots assigned to their flight.  We will need a pilot certificate number in order to coordinate with third party audit companies to provide this service.  We do not yet ask for pilot's certificate numbers but as we automate the system more we plan to include this feature.  We hope pilots will change over their certificate numbers for their own protection and so the new numbers will be in place when we begin to ask for them.

Highly qualified pilots should be able to command a higher price for their service.  We intend to do what we can to help make that happen in the air taxi business model in the interest of safety.
