Doing
it right is what counts!
Those were the words that ended every
flight briefing I gave while flying the AV8B Harrier for the U.S.
Marine Corps. Safety was paramount to our ability to accomplish
our missions then and it is paramount to my personal mission
now. I'm Roger Burton, CEO of Taxijet, and I give my personal
guarantee that everything we do at Taxijet is done with Safety in
mind.
While no one can guarantee that a
particular flight, or automobile ride, or roller coaster ride will
be without incident there are things we can do to limit the risk.
Flight Safety is built in layers. Wearing seatbelts is one
layer of safety and the pilot's pre-flight inspection of an aircraft is
another. Pilot training, adherence to weight and balance
limitations, maintenance inspections and emergency action plans are
other examples of the cumulative efforts of many individuals that
contribute to a safe flight. Passengers can add yet more
layers of safety to their trips by adhering to weight and balance
limits, remembering to turn off cell phones before takeoff and by using
wise decision making in selecting an air carrier.
The Federal Aviation Administration
has established strict safety guidelines for certification of Air
Carriers. Taxijet will only provide bids from Operators that have
been certified by the FAA.

This Risk Matrix, from the FAA's Introduction
to Safety Management Systems for Air Operators shows the
general concept behind aviation risk assessment. The principles
described in the publication are applied by third party audit companies to give the traveling public
information about a particular operator, aircraft or even air
crew.
Fly Safe.
