How do I make reservations?

You can use our system 24 hours per day, and 365 days a year by typing in your request at Taxijet.com.    Just enter your request and our software will instantly begin the previously daunting task of finding you the right aircraft in the right place at the right time to service your travel needs.  You could begin to receive competing bids directly from aircraft operators within 15 minutes after submitting your Travel Request.  Choose between multiple offers and call your operator of choice directly to book the trip.  All offers for service are on a FIRST COME FIRST SERVED basis.  You pay the Operator not Taxijet.

A Taxijet representative will follow up on all Travel Requests and assist you with any questions you may have.

What aircraft types do you have?

We do not own aircraft, we coordinate air travel between end users (Requesters) and FAA certified Aircraft Operators.  Since we are not limited to aircraft on hand we have the advantage of forwarding bids/quotes for aircraft of all types.   We provide an aircraft index to show you statistics and photos of some of the aircraft we can find for your trips.

Will I Need to join a membership program to use your services?

We do not require memberships.  Our service to Requesters is free.

What is your commitment to safety?

Safety is our top priority.  All charter operators are subject to very strict rules regulating the use and operation of their aircraft. These rules are very specific about aircraft, aircrew qualifications and maintenance standards.  Taxijet.com will not forward any bids from any Aircraft Operators who do not meet the FAA’s stringent requirements under CFR part 135 (Federal Aviation Regulations).

Please visit our Safety page for more information.

Which airports do you use?

We can pass your Travel Request along to operators who fly the Cirrus SR22, Citation Jets, Learjets or Gulfstream heavy jets.  If it flys charter we can probably find it for you at a good price.  Since we do not fly the aircraft ourselves Taxijet.com can coordinate a flight into or out of any of the 5,400 airports in America that can service private aircraft.  Page two of our Travel Request Form shows you airports near your departure and destination.  Use these maps to help determine which airport will work best for you.  We can find you flights from Miami to Teterboro or from Santa Ana to Sun Valley.  Anywhere from sea to shining sea and beyond.  Our database currently contains only US based air carriers but we can get you to many international destinations as well.

Is my flight information kept private?

We take privacy very seriously.  We will keep your personal information and flight request confidential by assigning a Trip number to your file.  When we send the request to various operators they will see the ID number and travel request information but no name or contact information.   We give you all the contact information for each operator along with their bid so you can contact the operator directly if their bid interests you.   If you indicate to us that you are interested in speaking to one of the operators we'll  give them your contact information so they can contact you directly.

What are the payment terms?

Taxijet finds available aircraft for you but we are paid by the operator.  You will pay the operator of your selected flight, not Taxijet.  After you select an aircraft operator to provide your service we ask that you inform us of your decision.  By keeping us up to date on your selection we are better able to keep our records straight so the system works more efficiently.  Also your information helps us know which operator to bill.  We don't charge you for our services but we charge operators a 5% finder's fee after you have paid them and completed your flight successfully.  This 5% is the standard discount that operators offer to brokers and demand aggregators such as Taxijet.com.  So you will receive the same pricing from operators you find through Taxijet.com as you would if you called them directly.  We save you the hassle of finding an available aircraft for no extra cost.

Each aircraft operator has their own legal documents you'll need to sign.   Please read the contract carefully before you sign.

Standard extra costs you pay to the operator may include wait fees or de-icing fees if needed.    Most operators require a two hour minimum charge per day for the aircraft.   If you stay overnight you may be required to pay for the aircrew's lodging.

New Air Taxi business models are simplifying the cost structure.  As more of these new air taxi services begin operations the prices you pay will become more stable and certain.  Operators will assume more of the risk associated with flight costs and charge a slightly higher hourly fee.  Most operators currently charge on a standard aircraft charter format as described above.

Taxijet's service spells out  the costs to you in an apples to apples format so you can make better informed decisions for your trips.

How does Taxijet’s concept compare with fractional ownership?

The FAA has recently published guidance about "Operational Control" of commercial aircraft.  The fractional owner is deemed to have full operational control when he/she uses the aircraft or the aircraft is used for the carriage of persons or property under his/her direction.   This means that the owner is responsible for compliance with all regulations applicable to the aircraft and for damage caused by the aircraft while he/she has operational control of the aircraft.   A charter / Air Taxi passenger has no such responsibility or potential liability.

Another major advantage that air charter / air taxi has over any form of ownership is the “fly and forget” benefit.  You won’t need to pay or worry about acquisition costs or management fees or maintenance or any number of other long term commitments.

Taxijet finds you the airplanes that are most efficiently positioned for  your trip  and minimizes  hassle to you and to operators.

Can changes to the schedule be made after a booking has been finalized?

Yes. Flexibility is the key to air charter.  Operators are, by the nature of the business, very nimble and responsive to changes in scheduling.  There may be additional charges if the itinerary is changed materially depending on your agreement with the operator.

What is an "MT Leg" or "Empty Leg?”

We refer to Empty Legs as “MT” legs to remind travelers that they are in essence “Minimum Toll” legs.  A flight from one airport to another is called a “leg.”  If the aircraft is not carrying paying passengers or freight it is considered to be “empty.”  These legs must be flown in order to position the aircraft for a follow on flight the next day or to bring the aircraft to home base after a trip etc.  The operator must pay the flight crew and must pay for fuel whether there are paying passengers aboard or not so they will often offer these legs to travelers for a reduced price.  Taxijet will assist operators in their quest to fill these MT legs.

Empty Legs are sometimes referred to as "Backhaul" flights.

How much baggage can I bring?

The amount of baggage allowed will depend on several factors.  The aircraft you choose, the distance of the trip and the weight of the passengers in your party will all affect the amount of weight available for luggage.  Each bid should specify the Maximum Payload (maximum allowed for all passengers, cargo and luggage.)  Remember that the weight of required fuel for longer trips or weather avoidance may reduce the Available Payload below the Maximum amount.

Please try to use soft duffle type bags if possible.  Hard roller type bags are more difficult to fit into baggage compartments of smaller aircraft.

How do I get to the airport?

You may request ground transportation in your initial Travel Request.  Your selected operator can take care of all your ground transport needs and can help you with directions to the airport if you will be driving.  If you need a rental car at the airport try this AVIS General Aviation/FBO Delivery Service.

 Is there airport parking?

Airport parking is available free at most general aviation airports.  You will probably be allowed to drive your car right up to the aircraft to load your baggage at many airports.  You can ask your operator to have your rental car or chauffeur meet you at the airplane when you arrive.  Your bags can be loaded into the rental car and you'll be on the road in minutes.

What documents will I need to fly internationally?

Each passenger will be required to carry an original birth certificate, and picture identification, or a valid passport.  There may be additional requirements depending on your destination.  Check with the aircraft operator for up to date requirements.

Are pets allowed on aircraft?

Some air carriers do not allow pets on their aircraft but most do.  If you will be traveling with pets please describe the animal on the Travel Request form and each operator can answer this question individually.
